Parents and Guardians,
I believe that homework is an essential part of a child’s education. It is valuable because it reinforces the skills taught in class, teaches responsibility, and prepares the students for the future, as homework will get much more demanding in the years to come.
Your child will keep track of their assignments in an assignment notebook. They will be responsible for writing down their assignments each day before they leave school. It is essential for you to check your child’s assignments and assignment notebook each day.
Please take time to discuss the homework policy with your child.

- Homework is usually assigned on Monday through Thursday nights. The amount of time spent to complete homework depends on each individual student. At times, students will be working on bigger projects, which may take multiple days and weekends to complete.
- I will never give homework on a subject that has not been covered in class. Homework should be a time to reinforce skills learned during the school day, not learn them.
- As part of homework, students are to read a minimum of 35 minutes per night. They should also be practicing their math facts each night (multiplication of numbers through 12).
- Any work that is not completed in class may also become part of your child’s homework.
- For those nights that homework does not take as long, students should be encouraged to read longer, log into I-Ready, or Xtra Math.
